Abstract

Violence, understood as harmful acts carried out against a person, group or community, is one of the problems that currently affects society at a global level. Currently, there is an increase in the rates of violence worldwide, which has led the ONU to classify it as a public health problem. It should be noted that speaking of violence does not refer only to physical aggression, but rather encompasses multiple acts such as psychological violence, verbal violence, sexual violence, etc. Taking the above into account, it is important to make it clear that violence is not an exclusive or inherent phenomenon of certain countries or societies, but rather different social and cultural factors such as machismo, discrimination, racism, inequality, organized crime, promote it. As a large-scale phenomenon, violence affects the entire population in general, breaking the barriers of age, sex and gender. Thus, we speak of violence against women, child violence, gender violence, youth violence, etc.
