Collective memory of Latin America

Abstract

In one of his classic texts, the Mexican writer Salvador Elizondo questions, through Farabeuf's voice, if there is something more tenacious than memory. And indeed, it is answered that the only thing more persistent than memory is forgetfulness. Here, it might be worth claiming to Elizondo that there is still something more persistent than memory and oblivion, namely, the people who write about them. The text that is intended to be reviewed here accounts for this insistence. Those who subscribe show that forgetting, but especially memory, is one of those things that is always worth continuing to write about and, in fact, it is done.
